My initial thoughts on my project was to do something very specific that would help me in the classroom. I am planning on using video conferencing to get subject matter experts in the classroom for little to no money. I thought the prefect idea would be to produce a how-to-video on how to use Holland College's own video conferencing room. The more I looked into it, I realized that the room is very hardware driven. This could be practical when talking to other educational institutes or large corporations... but that may not work for the average individual.
ooVoo
ooVoo is communications tool, used to help communicate with people via webcam online. You have to download ooVoo to your system to install and set up an account. Then you need to find a friend or person of interest to talk to. If you decide to do any amount of video conferencing I recommend you buy a headset. It reduces, to eliminates, feedback that occurs from simply chatting without one.
