Follow on Susan's cook Book Project
Class Presentation went fine. I decided to run the presentation as if it were my class at school (play school ). Since it is a cooking class the I teach and not a computer class I chose to focus on the Cook Book and the gathering of recipes for the class other than worrying whether each of the students fully understood what it was we were using and creating and how it worked and why it could do those weird wonderful things.
Students seem to pick things up so much quicker than adults. they have more trust and faith in Technology. They just accept that it will do what it says it will do.
I was lucky that we had been exposed to a wiki earlier in the course so everyone knew a little more what to expect.
In my class at school I would set the book(wiki) up and have an example there for the students to follow so this is what I did today. to help things run smoother.
I feel that everything went very well. With more time we might have talked about setting up a del.icio.us account for the foods class and how to save recipes and menus to it. We could then decide later what recipes we wanted on the site.
There is also a discussion forum on the site which could easily be used to get students comments and opinions on how the cookbook and the class is going.
I appreciated the favorable comments from the others and I thank Ann for being my critcal friend. She came with her recipes and support. She kept asking if there was any assistance that she could give me.
I really enjoyed learning about the wiki and I will definitely be using it in my three Foods class this coming year.
