Day Ten - This is the end.. my long lost friends.. the end.
Well... I have a great feeling of relief in regards to this class being over. The kind of relief you get after running a very long race. The scope of the information we covered was massive. The depth of our learning was cavernous. I'm sure there are people who never imagined the amount of practical information they would obtain in two weeks.
Day Nine - Particip-action
I appreciated the creative involvement each presenter came up with today. I always enjoy the hands on method of learning.
Then there was Deborah...Deborah, Deborah, Deborah. Your teaching style is fast paces, enthusiastic, and engaging. I know that I will never be as quick, but I hope to be able to communicate the enthusiasm you possess.
Day Eight - Jammed Packed
Today was just jammed packed with goodness. I think because my presentation was over and done with I was able to enjoy today much more. It is funny how much easier it is getting to contribute to our site, now that we are only two days away from being done. It is habitual now that every time I go online.. I check out edugrigs.org. What am I going to do come Monday morning..?
Day Seven - A Moderate Disaster
Today was my presentation.... to sum it up in two words "technical difficulty". I felt prepared and I thought I had covered my bases, I guess not. I know technology is not a constant and you have to expect the unexpected...but good God I didn't think it would be that hard. I also feel that the techo-problems that I faced muddled my presentation. I think I could have been more focused and direct. My one hope is that the information that I did manage to communicate did make sense. I hope that it educated the class on the various video conferencing technologies available.
Day Six - Web Goodies
I LOVE Wordle. I think it may be the most fun thing that has been introduced so far ;0)
I enjoyed the ustream webcasting. I do wish we had known who would be in the webcast. i may have been prepared with a related question. I guess if I had a question I would have thought of it on the fly anyway. I did find it interesting trying to follow the chat and the webcast at the same time. I was rarely contributing to either, but I was taking in what was being said on both feeds.
Day Five - The Culmination
Humor me. I'm going to pose some questions to myself to make sure I cover everything.
During the past week, what have I leaned about:
Teaching Strategies
Day Four - Tag it today..love it tomorow
Hey... today was a great day to organize. Having the training manual to start to take shape is great. I think we could have avoided many a headache, if we were a bit more organized from the get go. But hey… It new to most people and we can live and learn. I'm sure if we were to start a training manual today some guidelines would be established from the start. There were some issues that we came across in regards to tagging today.
Day Three: Reflections
I'm finding it rather difficult to comment or reflect on others blog posts. I think that as we continue on there will be more concrete examples of where the sum of our knowledge as a community will benefit the individual. Right now I feel that were are communicating more feelings then facts. I noticed in my posts I have taken that tone of good.."good job!" and "I agree". I am now tasking myself to be more of a helpful contributor then a back patter.
Presentation Topics
I am thinking about what would be most beneficial to me as a topic for presentation. I would like to create a video on how to use the video conferencing room at Holland College specifically. This is a completely selfish topic because it is something I need to know. I also think other instructors could benefit. From what I have been told, the room is under utilized. I think by removing the techno-stigma that is attached to that room, it could be put to better use.
