Presentations Day 2
The presentations were well done. The material and facts provided sites which allowed me access and practice to create spreadsheets, wikis and host a video conference. I can see me using the first two comfortably only because through the presentation Ihad the opportunity to do it quickly and easily. I would take the first tool and incorporate Excel into a Toursim class that deals with statistics, facts and figures. The students can do the research and then plot it into the graph.
The wiki, as well, through hands on experience I realized how simple the process can be. I acutally went back and created a wiki for a geography class,. http://travelfacts.wetpaint.com I hope to have students comment on places and attractions they visited in Canada. I will have them create a separate place for each destination but allow others to comment on their experience.
The video conferencing will require more work. One thought I had was a penpal in another country. We host students from Mexico and Austria so maybe this could be an initial connection to the school and students. I definitely need more experience in this field.
For me,today's learning was through step by step demonstration (not too orginal) but by showing me the program through powerpoint, taking time, and practicing I really felt I accommplished my learning.

Structured learning
I agree Ann. The structured presentations, while perhaps traditional, left me with a feeling that I had learned more. I'm not sure if in fact I did or if I just felt more comfortable throughout the process.
I like the way you are
I like the way you are looking at each presentation. You are already thinking about ways that you might be able to incorporate it into your classroom . I have to start thinking that way too instead of just concentrating on my project and not truly appreciating what else is out there and I can fully use it.
thanks
