Reflection Day 2
Today was another exciting day... here are my thoughts.
BLOGGING. Over the past years, I've tried to BLOG a bit but never enjoyed it much. However, today we discussed some of the uses for BLOGS and how they can be beneficial. I realize that it may be possible for me to incorporate a BLOG within my classes in order to encourage students to share and reflect on the time we spent together in school.
TRAINING MANUAL. So we worked on the development of our training manual today. Wow! Nothing like being self-taught! Lol. Seriously, it will be useful to frequently return to this activity throughout this course in order to perfect or add detail to what we do in class. then, this material will serve as a great resource for future endeavours.
RUBRIC. Everyone seems to have a different opinion as to what our community rubric should look like. It was very difficult to cooperate during this activity because everyone had ideas but everyone was too busy to attempt to control the development or the continuity of the activity. However, we got preliminary work done and hope to tweak it a bit tomorrow.
ROOM TEMPERATURE: I must say that the room temperature in this lab is very bad... very hot. I'm not sure if I can endure this for two weeks.
Goodnight.

I too feel that in this day
I too feel that in this day and age blogging can be a real asset and I am excited to learn more about it and how it can best benefit me and my students. I have really enjoyed taking part in blogging our reflections to see how others are feeling. By taking part in an activity such as the reflections it makes me fell like part of the team when I know where everyone stands.
I agree that once we have the working manual complete it will be a great tool. I also feel that this manual will be underconstruction on an on going basis as information updates itself regularily.
I found that the heat in the classroom was also quite warm. I found that there were times that I was just breathing and that was making me sweat! I function better when the room temperature is cooler that is for sure.

Classroom application
Hi Marcel,
As I was reading your reflection talking about classroom application, I remembered that I was jotting down ideas as the class was happening. I was thinking of doing something as simple at work as putting the students schedules under their login in so they could look at them at home and parents could view it. Also I was thinking that it would be great to have a Blog or wiki like Dav'es with other organizations working with students with intellectual disabilities to troubleshoot and share resources.

I can see that the teaching potential behind blogging is endless. I believe giving people a place where you can link your ideas together and a place to see relevant blogs on issues that interest you can encourage your own thought development. This can occur, in such a way that it can help you see different perspectives and different issues, that may not have come from your central issues. It is also a great way to generate questions and to seek advice from others. With my limited experience of blogging, I am actually encouraged to see how my own growth in this area can be developed over time.
The training model will definitely need to be a work in progress. As we are learning, our knowledge base is continuing to grow. These new skills need to be incorporated in our module to ensure the package is advancing in the direction that our skills are heading.
While doing group work I think it is most important to remember that as the group develops ideas, content emerges in many different ways. People work together to reach common goals and usually do end up accomplishing the tasks at hand.
