Day Ten - This is the end.. my long lost friends.. the end.
Well... I have a great feeling of relief in regards to this class being over. The kind of relief you get after running a very long race. The scope of the information we covered was massive. The depth of our learning was cavernous. I'm sure there are people who never imagined the amount of practical information they would obtain in two weeks.
I did learn about many online applications that I had never heard of before. I already have at least four applications I am using daily. I know that I will be incorporating some of the applications in my class room. If anything, I learned the value of being connected and organized as a community.
Above and beyond the practical applications of staying connected as a community, I learned about teaching styles. From Deborah's enthusiasm to Barry's laid back tone, I loved it. I'm not exactly sure where I'll land on the "teaching style spectrum", but I am interested in finding out. I have leaned that in the face of technical difficulties I will not crumble. Although it wasn't the most successful presentation, I do hope others will benefit from my findings. In hindsight I would do about ten things differently, live and learn.
Milton Glaser once said, "The process often reveals more then the work itself." I think this is very true in regards to our class. I know that for every application that was covered in class, at least five more were researched. In the process of stumbling through the "inter-tubes" many people gained confidence and the realization that they had the skills and abilities to do and understand more then they had originally anticipated.
Thanks for all the educational goodness guys.
Best of luck.
April
