Day 1 Reflection
Here are my thoughts on this first day so far.
Within the CAE/B.Ed. program, I am used to having the syllabus and a bunch of other material given to me within the first few minutes of any new course. When we started this course, Ed366H, I thought that not being given anything was a little strange. As the afternoon developped, I realized the direction we would be taking over the next couple of weeks... this is all online. My shelves will not have to accomodate yet another heavy binder. Very cool.
I feel as if there will be alot of information sharing throughout this course. This is very interesting to me. Since I enjoy this medium, I believe I will be able to greatly benefit from others' skills. I believe I will learn alot of things.
To all who read this, please feel free to message me at anytime in order to encourage information sharing during the entire two weeks.
I love to click on links and see what they do. Therefore, as Dave shows us new things, I have a tendency to blindly try things before he actually explains them. This is sort of my way to multitask. I hope this doesn't end up as being too much of a nuisance for Dave and anyone else in the class.
I'm not exactly sure how del.icio.us will benefit anything I do daily. I now have an idea what it is, but I think the links posted there, or anywhere, need to be organized in a way that are easily found. From what Dave said today, I'm sure that I will come to understand the advantaged of using this new to me application.
It's interesting to me that edugrids looks and feels like an online community of practice which I was once a part of for a few years; a place where knowledge sharing and learning occurs. It'll definitely be interesting for me to read the numerous bits of information posted by my colleagues and also to post my own.
Until tomorrow! :-)

Paper trail
I was surprised as well to leave without a pile of paper. It makes sense that we will manage our learning online. I think it's great that you jump right in to try the new stuff. All the better to help the us of us!

I also believe there will be a lot of sharing of information throughout this course. I think it will encourage a deeper knowledge base for all of us. I am excited to hear about the strengths that others can offer in the class. The skills that others have already acquired can help me with my understanding in certain subject. These skills that other will share will hopefully spark, new interests in new topics and hopefully encouraged me to develop these interests, further.
I believe del.icio.us will turn out to be a very powerful tool. I can see how it can help you organize information. The importance of this tool I am sure, will be apparent throughout the next two weeks. My desire with this program, will be for me to become comfortable in its applications to help me down the road.
Learning for others will prove to be an essential part of this course. Having a place to share knowledge, and given opportunity to reply to other posting, will allow your own interests to trigger a different way of looking at topics.

del.icio.us
In my course outline for the IMM program I have allotted time for people to share their online findings. I think I will be using del.icio.us to help me and my class keep those links organized and available durring and after they leave the college.
