366h - Day 10!!!!
Thanks for the wonderful lunch. I enjoyed the company the most. It has been a wonderful jouney the last two weeks. I walked into class two weeks ago and I wondered what I got myself into. However, I have to admit I have become comfortable with the format and have enjoyed all the material we have learned. I wish each one of you all the very best.
If I look back at everything we have learned over the last two weeks, I feel a little overwhelmed. The material we have created in our blog is going to be a great take away from the course. I can see how all the material is very useful. There has been a lot of great information share among us all. Each of us should be proud of all of our contributions.
The skills that we have learned will be transfered into my work. I am hoping this course has made me more adaptable and a more skilled teacher. The learning curve in this class has been huge. I can honestly say I am amazed at everything. I have loved what I have gotten from this course.
Thank you
Kim Mason

Adaptable
I think you hit the key word, adaptable. I have been shaked and baked these last two weeks. The teaching style surprised me because I had never before encountered a class being the source of the curriculum. Although this style may not be suited for all situations, it is viable alternative.
Our world has changed. I heard a speaker at the teacher convention this past week say that we can no longer consider ourselves in the business of teaching content. The content in many disciplines has expanded beyond the ability of a learner to absorb. He spoke about the need to find a new approach, an approach that aids our learners to managing content. He used biology as an example. In his day the bulk of biology content could be taught in grade 10. It is no longer true. He asked if the content added to anyone's life. Statistics say no. He recommended scientific inquiry in general as basic knowledge and promoted reactant topics such as water as having long term benefit for all.
This promotion of process verse content is the very experience that we were engaged in for this class. I am going to have to re-examine some things.

Colleen,
You have a wonderful way of framing this inviting thought.
