My Struggle on Day 1
I found the materials came fast and furious, there were times when it was too fast for me to follow and recognized conditions that I have seen in some of my students when they were faced with 'technology' related issues to which they were not familiar with. This occurs when the instructor is very familiar with the materials and working with software which is very well known and I can see how this can easily happen. It certainly will be something I will be sure to be aware of in the fututre. However it also demands the student to push themselves harder. (But it would be nice if it came a little slower.)
My curriculum is very strucured but does allow for flexibility of presentation. I hope that in this course I will discover/learn/master some new and innovative ways to present the required information in an interesting manner.
I welcomed the new 'accounts' we set up and the shared community aspect of our learning. Perhaps I'll find it easier as the week wears on.

Information
Barry
I know the feeling, lots of information and abit nervous in pushing the right buttons to gain access to various sites. As you mentioned we are the students now and must be willing to explore and challenge ourselves to learn something(s) new. With the expertise in the room we will gain the knowledge and assistance that will enable us to learn several new methods for our classroom.
best lesson
It may be that the best lesson in this class will be the "learner's shoes" perspective. I'm with you. I'm already reflecting on the timetable I give when presenting new functions.
I reflected on this again
I reflected on this again over the supper table and feel guilty that I might have moved away from the "learner's shoes" perspective that is usually more evident in the earlier part of the year - thanks for putting it so succinctly.
Interesting Barry how you
Interesting Barry how you were able to put yourself in the place of the students. Great lessons learned already and only the first day!
Melissa - this came like a
Melissa - this came like a shot - I like the above comment of "in the learner's shoes perspective" - with all the technology at our dispopsl - that said it all for me today.
